Bauer Reels
I like Bauer reels because their designs are thoughtful, straight forward and functional. They're a tough, no nonsense reel. I can easily field-strip any model using a pocket knife...no special tool needed. New rods are getting lighter and Bauer reels reflect this fact. They're made in the USA and the company has excellent customer service. Bauer has been my first choice for over 20 years and I proudly sell them in the shop.

Monterey and Carmel
Monterey Peninsula offers some of THE BEST saltwater fly fishing in the state. There are miles of easily-accessible beaches with picturesque views. Striped bass and surf perch are the principle species sought 365 day a year. Marine wildlife abounds along our shoreline so you could be casting to stripers busting bait at the surface while humpback whales breach just a few hundred yards offshore or dolphins ride the incoming waves right in front of you!
